Review on MarineLand Penguin Bio-Wheel Power Filter: Ultimate Multi-Stage Aquarium Filtration System by Jennifer Hartley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

DO NOT use this filter! (or other Marineland HOB filters)!

So I bought a Penguin 350 from a local store a few months ago. Worked well for 3 months. Then it started to get LOUD! We speak very loudly. I disassembled it twice and tried to clean it to make it run smooth again (it wasn't even dirty). That does not work. Super loud rattles and noises all the time (which could be heard from a few rooms)! I saw online that a new wheel costs about $20 or so. I also saw that the Penguin 200 was around $20 back then. So I decided on a Penguin 200. I have plenty of filter pads (about 10) left for the 200/350 series so it was a cheap way to use more of my filters. Well I've had the Penguin 200 for 23 days now. I only used two of the ten or so filter pads I have for these filters. Now these 200s sound just as bad or worse than the 350s! Rattling, knocking, constant noise! In less than a month! I'll see if Revane takes it back even though I didn't keep the box. Those filters suck. I've always liked Marineland products; Used by many over the last 25 years. But these penguin filters are just awful! So bad I will never buy a Marineland filter again. Get something else, do NOT take ANY of these filters! They spoil very quickly. I have other branded filters that are still working silently after 10 years! It took weeks or months for 350 before it went bad. Very disappointed.
