Easy faucet repair at Faucet Parts

I change this cartridge (2) times, once because it failed and once because my son broke it. Took me about 20 minutes. Tools: slotted screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, hook wrench Details: cartridge, silicone assembly grease, blue Loctite. To me the Pfister GS74-0740 and 974-074 appear to be the same part and both have worked for me. Bathroom sink. -I also turned off the water in the water supply and turned on the garden hose to reduce the water pressure. -Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the pin cover. Closing ring on top of mixer body. It is simply unscrewed counterclockwise by hand, no tools required. Remove the brass compression ring with an adjustable wrench. Remove the cartridge. - Compare to a new cartridge to ensure it is the correct part. - Check the faucet body to make sure the old cartridge seal is not left there. - It was still in my case, removed it with a bent paper clip. - Lightly coat the new cartridge seal with silicone assembly grease. - Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body, making sure to press down and secure the cartridge position (2). Bolt.-Install the brass thrust ring and tighten with a wrench. Do not over-tighten.- Mount O-ring and hand-tighten.- Place handle on cartridge shaft.- Coat Phillips head screw with blue Loctite and tighten. .- Turn on water supply (if off). - Check for leaks.
