I tried very hard to pull out the bit by the head to no avail, and I see other reviewers mentioning how hard it is to remove the bits too. Then it dawned on me, how about pushing the head in? LOL! That's how you remove the bits. Push in and retrieve from the bottom. I explain this in my pictures too. This is a 5-star product!
