We have a string of about 100 bulbs across the deck and the traditional G40 bulbs, although nice with their sepia-toned glow, were starting to wear out and are getting harder to find. They are glass and delicate and power-hungry. These LED units are a great solution. They are a bit brighter than the incandescent versions, which actually helps when grilling outside on the deck in the evening. They don't get hot, they don't break and they use 1/20 the amount of electricity (7W vs. 0.3W per bulb). So I feel much better about leaving the party lights on now that the 700 watt string is a 30 Watt string.
