Review on Sight Glass Spigot for Travel Berkey and Big Berkey Systems by Kenny Sarma

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Much better than the original nozzle

I remember the original nozzle was slow to flow because it was very small. It's a lot larger, even if it's the size listed for your specific Berkey (I have a large one). There are fewer problems with leakage than with the original nozzle. Just be careful not to overtighten the nut or overtighten along the bolt as the washer will be pushed completely out of place. I think if I could offer any advice I'd say once contact is made tighten until you see the washer move then back off a few turns until it's back to normal (you'll have to tighten a little tighten to see properly). Also, the internal threads on this fitting are much, much shorter than the original, which initially bothered me, but once everything is in place, no worries. The plastic is strong and the sight glass itself is very good quality steel and glass. This way the flow is much faster and it is convenient not to have to lift the upper tank every few hours to check the water level in the lower tank. Interestingly, the top of the sight glass is open. So if you have a full bottom tank, some water will come out of the top of the glass. It only happened once when I flopped the top too hard. (Initially I compared the sight gauge reading to the actual water level, but I've since stopped bothering everyone around to check.) Another great investment from Berkey. As I said in my Big Berkey review, this was the best $300 I've ever spent.
