My biggest concerns are flow reduction and how long will it last.My city water has lots of sediment, mostly RUST and lots of it. I've been using the AP902/ AP901R filter for my home and have been getting about a year between filter changes. I tried upgrading the filter to an AP917HD (to filter the chlorine) and the pressure drop was so bad, I had to replace it in 3 weeks. At $150 a pop this wasn't going to work.I looked at those 3 stage filter systems that said they did a whole house for a year and I just don't believe it after my experience with the AP917HD. There just doesn't seem like there's enough filter medium & those yearly exchanges are going to add up. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get this thing. She's BIG and heavy. poor UPS lady!Anyway, plumbed it in after my AP910R & UV light. I didn't want to use their filter and have to clean and wash it every few months. The sediment filter provided is rated at 30 microns and the AP910R is rated at 5 or 15 microns depending on who you ask, so I'm good there.Flow reduction: I have a flume water monitor attached to my meter so I could observe the water usage. I am getting about 17GPM out of my 3/4" city water supply at 60PSI through a hose bib that I use to drain the house. After installing this & the filter I have, I'm at about 11GPM which is good enough. I have three bathrooms (2 full & 1 1/2 bath).One Update: I ended up installing a check valve because I noticed that water was constantly see-sawing between my house and the street. The flume water monitor saw constant intermittent usage (about 3 gallons per hour). When inspecting it, I saw the water meter running forwards and then backwards at times. I believe that the pressure from the street isn't constant and this tank is big enough that it takes on a couple extra PSI, then when the pressure reduces it pushes it back out. A check valve has solved that problem.If it lasts, this is a much more cost effective option, as I had filters on pretty much every sink in the house and the icemaker and I was paying $120+ annually for filter changes just for those. At about 100k gallons a year, this will be cost neutral in 5 years and pay itself back in 10.P.S. The baritone sax is there for comparison! The cap above it was removed and a copper bypass line was put in for servicing.
