Review on Enhanced Viewing Experience: HP W2207 22 Inch Widescreen Monitor with Height Adjustment & Wide Screen Display by Tyler Estes

I have been looking for a monitor to replace the HUGE 19 inch CRT monitor I used for my business as a professional photographer for over 9 months. When I decided I couldn't afford a twelve hundred dollar monitor, I looked for an alternative. I was shocked and surprised that this monitor got the best ratings on the web out of all the so-called professional brand monitors and consumer monitors. (except super expensive ones). For just over $300 I decided it was worth the risk. I am NOT disappointed. When I unpacked it I was shocked at the lack of packaging. It was covered in styrofoam top and bottom, but there was nothing in between but a thin piece of cardboard over the monitor to protect it from scratches. Its footprint is much smaller than the old CRT monitors I had. I have almost 8" x 22" of desk space. Setup was easy. At the moment my current graphics card doesn't have DVI (next update on the list) so I connected the monitor via VGA. After installing the included drivers and adjusting the graphics card output, the aspect ratio was perfect. Windows XP has a problem with stretching the background for this monitor. You can create your own background to make it look right. I have run the HUEY Color Calibrator and it is as good if not better than my CRT. MUCH colder in temperature and space it saved remarkably well. I've edited several portrait sessions and got really good results. I look forward to the album layout with this monitor. Fully fitting two sides on screen with 75% zoom instead of 10% makes a big difference. The monitor has a slight blur on the right side, which I noticed when calibrating. It doesn't stop me from editing at all. I believe this is coming from the illuminated power button on top of the monitor. I don't notice it at all unless I'm calibrating black. If you are interested in photography and are on a tight budget. This is the monitor for you right now. This may change over time, but for now, and for just $300. That's the best in my opinion.
