Wemo Mini Smart Plugs will not connect to 2.4GHz wireless home automation network. As an IT director with over 20 years of experience setting up and managing networks, you might think that installing a simple WIFI-enabled smart plug would be an easy task, and it should be. However, after nearly 4 hours of trying to fix this issue, I was finally able to confirm that this is a common issue that Wemo's "engineers" have been "working" on for over 2 years. My router is ASUS RT-AC5300. I have followed all guidelines published by Wemo as well as guidelines found on several forums. The process hangs stably on the network password and no longer connects. From what I understand this process is quick and easy for some, but research shows that a large number of customers have exhausted all options and eventually given up. I'm one of those customers. Rename your network and reconfigure each installed device.] No thanks. I sent them back and ordered another well-known brand with more stable reviews.
