The device powers the entire assembly from one housing with one input wire. The 12v connections to connect to the vehicle's brake lights must then be connected from the front of the van, which means that the extra wire must be routed from the front of the van to the rear to reconnect to the existing wiring connect. Makes absolutely no sense. I want to go back, but only realized it when it was too late
