A little surprised that many companies don't make this product. Perfect and simple solution compared to other types of fan rated boxes. Well I guess I'm a bit lucky that the light I replaced ended up right next to the bar. But even if I had to move it, this box would still prove to be an effective time saver. One star deducted due to knockouts. Firstly, if you're unfamiliar with this type of box, it's not entirely obvious which part of the tongue needs to be broken off. A slight change in their instructions could fix this potential confusion. Second, knockouts could be done a little better. Removing the tabs wasn't difficult. But it could have been easier. Someone else suggested using a flathead screwdriver and a hammer. Which works pretty well. Other than that, this box is excellent. Installs in minutes, everything is secure. My impact wrench quickly got the fasteners done. If you don't have a percussion device or drill/screwdriver it will take a little effort to sink them. I had brief hiccups, but that was my own fault. In short, when I attached it to the beam, the box turned out to be a little recessed. For my application this created a problem. Because the brackets that are usually attached to the fan housing are very tight on the ceiling. My solution was simple. I took two more nylon locknuts (one for each bolt) and essentially used them as spacers. Worked great. Maybe sharing this problem and the solution will help someone in the future. Will definitely buy this product again!
