First off, this arrived double boxed with the inner box made of 3/8" plywood. This is a granite surface plate and the weight is as expected. Second, this does not have the accuracy of a Professional inspection lab use fine measuring/set up tool of .0001 across the entire surface. And it does not promise such. But, it is more than adequately precise for home, or even shop use. The actual precision of .0015 is better than most humans are capable achieving in application without high precision, high cost tools to match. This surface plate represents an excellent value for the typical application. I passed on the far more expensive Starrett Plate and that was an easy choice for me. Save your dollars folks, they can be best used elsewhere in the shop!
