I ordered this cable to connect my M1 Mac mini 2020 to CalDigit USB4 Element Hub. While waiting I decided to use this 2m cable with my 2017 MacBook Retina. As many people know, this laptop only has one USB 3.1 Gen 1 5Gbps port. Previously, Thunderbolt cables > 0.8 m could only support USB 2.0 or 480 Mbit/s. I connected my ACASIS Thunderbolt enclosure with a 1TB WD Black SN750 inside. Incredibly, this combination achieved >400MB/s with Cable Matters TB4, which is much more than you would expect from the 400MB/s speed of USB 2.0. And yes, I ran the test on an external drive, not an internal SSD, which increases write speeds by 2x :) My tests with real Thunderbolt devices show that this cable works at full rated bandwidth. The build quality is okay, nothing special. This is a standard black rubber cable with TB4 certified logos on each end of the connector (not visible in photo).
