The product complies with the new sanitary regulations. While I'd still prefer not to pierce my countertop for $$$, updated codes now require that air gap for dishwasher installation, and there aren't many options that aren't an eyesore. If the code calls for it, I would recommend this product. The polished nickel finish went well with the Moen faucet we installed. Visually it looks nice on the counter, although it's really hard to keep clean. After 2 years the interior is quite uncomfortable and cleans well with a good soak. To clean the plastic part underneath the stainless steel case, you need to leave a soapy cloth on it to soak it in before wiping off the dirt. Because it mostly stays hidden, it's difficult to remember to clean it regularly and it gets very dirty very quickly as a result.
