So this was my first fan install, I watched a lot of videos and made my own sets so I knew what I was getting into. What I didn't know was that the box in the ceiling I was planning to install this in wasn't rated for a fan, PLUS the joist extension bracket that the hardware store sells was too long to fit into my ceiling even at the smallest size to fit . I found this to be a solution because my bolt was pushed firmly into a hole in the ceiling where I could easily see and reach it. I used an impact wrench and a square head to drive in the large wood screws that come pre-installed in the box. I only used 3 of these and took one out as a lag screw got in the way, but I was still able to hang the box after ceiling mounting! (and I weigh over 100 pounds!) I was concerned when I bought a large 60 inch windmill fan, thinking it would be too heavy with no vibration, noise or movement! I used the included nuts and bolts to install the ceiling fan ball mount as they seemed more secure. They were long enough even after the box was slightly recessed into the ceiling. The knockout holes were very stiff and difficult to reach so I cut them out with an oscillating multi tool, good luck trying to weave a large romex through those little holes if you don't! Can't say enough good things about this little box! It's your choice if you're in the same boat as me!
