Didn't play DVDs - CD & DVD Drives

I liked the idea of this product but ease of use was an issue. I downloaded the VLC player as recommended but none of my DVDs played. The device worked, but there must be a problem that prevented the DVD from being read. I was able to use it with CDs, but the part of the DVD that doesn't work when the description says it works is annoying.
