Review on Nikon D7200 DX-format DSLR with 18-140mm VR Lens (Black): A Complete Photography Bundle by Mike Diaz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm a REAL photographer again!

It's been a long time since I haven't had time to shoot and wasn't sure I really need a DSLR when there are so many decent systems out there "period and." shoot." But I'm very glad I took the risk of buying this camera. I forgot how much I loved photography and how good I really was. This camera challenges me to make important decisions related to my photography and gives me the tools to implement the decisions I make. I'll be right back and shoot almost exclusively in manual mode and the quality of my shots is excellent (mostly ;-). I try to allow the program modes to make some decisions for me, especially when I'm not in the mood to think and just want to shoot like a P&S, and they do a great job. I will never make any money from my photos but I quickly became the de facto photographer for every family event and he is always with me on my hikes and trips and has all the settings I need to shoot from street - switch to landscape and portrait shots wherever I am. I still have a long way to go before I master all the intricacies, but this system has rekindled my passion and made me feel like a kid again, exploring a talent I had completely put to sleep. If you can give yourself some time to practice and want the flexibility and performance that a DSLR can give you, the D7200 is a great pro camera and has a decent range of DX lenses. It would be nice if Nikon invested in ultra-wide DX lenses in the same way they did with the FX, but other brands fill the space nicely. Unless you need massive expansions, I doubt you'll ever miss a full-fledged system.

Pros
  • 51-point autofocus system; auto and manual focusing; Phase detection AF points: 51 (15 crossover)
Cons
  • No instructions

It's not the newest Nikon DX DSLR, but it's well worth every penny
