Review on LimoStudio Photography Continuous Portable Filters by Julio Solano

Is a warning sign really necessary?

This product uses 7W LED bulbs in a GU10 base as shown in the picture. Not sure if the one hour warning sticker (the warning is on the light) actually applies or is a holdover from earlier models (which I have) with halogen bulbs. The halogens got very hot (uncomfortable to touch) and I've swapped the bulbs for LEDs myself and never had any overheating issues. However, these are different LED bulbs and they may be more sensitive to heat - I don't know. I can try running it for an hour to see how hot it gets. I was able to install and remove the filters with no issues (contrary to some comments). but I never use them, so I don't know if they trigger a heat alert. Unlike some other buyers, I specifically wanted the fairly concentrated beams from these lamps that can be diffused through the light tent when taking tabletop photos. Buyers should be aware that any lamp with a small front opening will cast significant shadows if not using a diffuser, whether narrow or wide beam. More on these lamps: I tested one lamp for an hour and it gets hot, but not too hot. hot to the touch, but perhaps enough to warrant a warning for its own reliability. The vents in the lamp head are smaller than my old halogen lamps (where I replaced the bulbs with LEDs) and they don't get as hot. I also notice that these bulbs are significantly bluer than 5000K with a color temperature of 5500K. So lightbulbs I had before don't go well with them.
