Review on 6-Inch Square Shower Drain With Quadrato Pattern Grate - Brushed 304 Stainless Steel, Watermark&CUPC Certified, Black | Neodrain by Paul Newton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great, but a question or two.

I installed a 6" drain. I don't see it listed at ebay any more.It looks great and drains well without the basket. If I put the basket in it drains much slower, almost scary slow. So I am using without the basket. I will just snake it out if I ever need to. It seems unlikely anything of size, like a wedding ring ,would go down there. While I was careful with the mud bed install, and got the drain 100% level, unfortunately the tile and grout is about 1/16 to 3/32 low immediately adjoining the drains outer rim. This leaves me with some modest ponding toward the center of the shower. I am contemplating cutting a few small SMOOTH notches in the drain rim to deal with this. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?UPDATE: I cut a couple very shallow, about 1/16 slots at 3 corners of the rim (and made sure there were no sharp edges). I used a 4" angle grinder with a thin abrasive metal blade. Now the floor is bone dry in about an hour as opposed to almost all day. Not a recommendation, but just my personal experience.

Pros
  • Loved it
Cons
  • Requires precision measurements during installation
