The jacket is very thick. I use them as patch cords to connect my outdoor IP cameras to a category 6 outlet that I installed at home the day before. I wanted to shorten one or two of them. When I disconnected the connector and started preparing the new end, the typical Cat6 strain relief didn't fit the jacket. I took a closer look, there are 2 outer jackets. so it was only possible to cut off an outer shell from a small section in order to put on a protective cover and to crimp the new rj45 plug without any problems. The new ending was inside, so it didn't matter. Works well, can be shortened and resealed. You just need to cut off the first outer shell of the two.
