You just can't get any better for the money. The RC collection has been around since 2005 when EVERY tower sold for $1,000. These days, this speaker can often be found on sale for a lot less. And since speaker technology has evolved much more slowly than computer technology, these speakers are still considered fantastic devices and will remain so for years to come. Build quality is top notch, with buttery smooth premium real wood veneer and huge woofers driving each speaker (a tweeter the size of a kid's fist). In general, RC's sound is fairly neutral, bordering on warm. The highs are flat but don't roll off at high frequencies like cheaper speakers. The mids are sweet and the bass is almost too strong when the bass ports are closer than 3 feet to the wall. Bass is the main argument for these acoustics. Two 6.5-inch woofers can deliver tight bass that goes amazingly far all day and never misses a beat. This eliminates the need for the subwoofer for music. All in all I wouldn't recommend anything other than these at this price point.
