This item is PERFECT for smartphone photography in dark nightclubs without flash. Just turn it on, hold it on one shoulder and move it closer/further, or use the brightness slider to get just the right amount of fill light, but you'll still see the surroundings behind your subjects. Very beautiful pictures. For this kind of shot it was worth it and I haven't even tried it with my "real" camera! In my club, the lowest brightness was fine, but I had to crank it up a bit for a full-length shot of the couple. I can't remember if I hit the max or not. Try it, you will like it.
