Review on Delmar Tools Patented Table Saw Push Block: Enhancing Safety and Ease in Narrow Rip Cuts, Reducing Kickback Risks by Tim Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For a table saw? I'd rather have 2 of these than the other guy's 1 suggestion (admittedly terrible).

I have two each Delmars and Grrripper. With that in mind, the answer to the question "are they as good or better” is actually "it depends”. Working with a table saw? I actually like them more because I can set up and cut quicker (less fiddling with knobs and getting everything in place and the added bonus is that I can turn the dial and they effectively "jam" on the rails of my Bizemeyer fence , so that they are within reach and do not disturb). However, it can certainly be argued that it is not unreasonable to waste time performing an operation that could inadvertently cripple a person for life. However, I have never felt unsafe using Delmar or SAFER when using Grrripper. She. *** When it comes to some other tools I also use the Grrripper for things like: forming/milling table, dressers etc - basically operations where the DOWN force is all that matters, more than something firmly against a fence to hold - I'd say I prefer the Grrripper. He's better off. Spring. grrrrr. On the other hand, I prefer my cheap homemade pushers to any jointer, so take that with a pinch of sawdust. The bottom line is that this product is just as good as the MicroJig, especially for table saws, and at half the price. It's missing some Grrripper add-ons (which I've never seen the need for or used), but still: I'd rather have two of these than one Grrripper. And as much as I love MJ products (I have a dozen different flavors) and as proud as they are, Grrripper hasn't dropped in price IN A DECADE and is almost NEVER sold commercially (for more than a few dollars). The only other company that, to my knowledge, does such nonsense is LEGO. In addition, Delmar is the first REAL competitor they have ever faced. I am for market competition. That creates innovation. Finally, in honor of Delmar, I have to say: I used to make my own hardwood grrrippers. When I had a pair, "reverse engineering" took 15 minutes. I can't replicate their patented grippy rubber, but the body and frame? Light. It would be an order of magnitude more difficult to copy Delmar: there are many more moving parts and mechanisms. So take it how you want. TLDR: For table cuts? i like it more For router/shaper/connector table operations? I prefer Grrripper rubber on the outsole. If you hesitate because you are concerned about security? I didn't find it any less safe. IF YOUR PRIMARY USE IS A TABLE SAW, BUY THIS PRODUCT AND SAVE HALF THE COST (or get TWO FOR ONE, and yes: it makes sense to have two).

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
