Vertical toe thickness

Usually these are good shoes. The included insole is comfortable but too thick when I wear socks - even insoles - with shoes. My sensitive feet sometimes feel the tops of my socks when I move, so I have to use them barefoot. However, I was happy to find a shoe that was 1.) shaped like a foot and 2.) big enough for my feet.

Pros
  • Improves posture
Cons
  • Not compatible with some pant styles.

The soles fall apart in less than 2 months.

The soles of this shoe fell apart, they were changed once. I then bought them in October 2022, then they were replaced on December 24, 2022 and now the replacement parts are falling apart. I've had Thorin 4.5's for many years and although they've worn they haven't fallen apart. I hope these are real Altra shoes.

Pros
  • Prevents leg splitting
Cons
  • May cause discomfort when walking on uneven surfaces.

Great shoes with some caveats

Edit to add: I made 2 small cuts with scissors on either side of the tongue and this completely eliminated the pain in the tongue. The tension is gone and it no longer digs into my skin. I'll be ordering another pair now knowing the tongue can be easily repaired. This is my first pair of Altras. I just drove it for the first time and was very impressed. I've been running barefoot for the last 12 years but after a recent back injury I was advised to use something with some cushioning. Other…

Pros
  • Ideal for people with flat feet
Cons
  • May not fit individually.

I would have kept it if the seller had said it was used. Yes. That's not new. There is gravel. The laces are frayed and re-inserted. The packaging alone reveals that it is a used pair. Definitely not satisfied with my experience with the seller or the packaging.

Pros
  • love these shoes
Cons
  • language is annoying

The fabric above will have a hole in a month

The black Torin 5 boots look very good. However, after 4-5 weeks of wearing, an expanding hole or tear appeared at the top of the fabric near the big toe. I only use shoes for walking and not for running or any other sport so it's even more disappointing that they tear like this. Definitely some quality control issues.

Pros
  • Soft and soft yet comfortable to stand on. Really good shoes, I have no complaints or improvements.
Cons
  • Limited availability in stores

Dear Altras - they weren't well made

I bought these for my husband to replace an old pair of Altras. After 2 weeks they started tearing at the top of the tip. I don't know what's going on as we've both been wearing this shoe model for over a year with no problems. Our previous purchases were from a local shoe store, not Revain. Makes me suspicious, but I don't know. Maybe just a bad couple.

Pros
  • Super light
Cons
  • Can't last long after daily use

Comfortable but not enough.

I run into these. I've worn them to half marathon lengths with no issues. I had tongue issues with my blue pair, but after a few months I bought the white ones and had no tongue issues. Anyone else noticed that the tongue was rougher or softer depending on the color?

Pros
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor activities
Cons
  • Can cause knee and hip problems

Great boot! to my rating.

These shoes were amazing! I loved walking in them, the sole eventually came off, but I contacted Altra and they loved it! Great shoes, great customer service! customer for life!

Pros
  • Suitable for most foot types including narrow and wide feet.
Cons
  • Not suitable for indoor use due to the construction.

WHY? The tongue is made of hard plastic and cuts into the ankle. Otherwise, it seems comfortable, but won't last long, tk. made cheap. Maybe close yours. Factory in Vietnam, Altra.

Pros
  • Ankle support for a secure feeling
Cons
  • Not recommended for people with flat feet

Torin 5 is good, but not as good as previous versions

I have had many previous versions of the Torin and this is my favorite Altra shoe for comfort. I have two pairs of Torin 4s which I think are the best version. The Torin 5 is smaller and has a narrower tip. I've always worn a size 10 in Altra shoes, but with Torin 5 I had to go back to size 10 and go for 10.5. Once I got the larger size the fit was right and I liked the Torin 5 much better. The tongue problem that many people complain about no longer bothers me since I've been wearing socks…

Pros
  • Supports the bow
Cons
  • Lack of customer care and communication

I feel great last review

Started running again a few years later. There was pain in the knees and hips. Switched from an 8mm drop shoe to an Altra Zero drop shoe. All pain was gone almost instantly. I love these shoes.

Pros
  • Comfortable mesh upper for breathability
Cons
  • Not suitable for water activities

Not old Thorin 5.

If you liked the Altra Torin 5 for its soft tongue, arch support, plush ride and stable toe box, you WILL NOT like this new version. I sent them back after trying them. The only thing that looks like the old version is that they are still 1/2 size smaller.

Pros
  • I wear 9 in everything. I can get 8.5 to work. 9 works very little.
Cons
  • May cause allergic reactions in some people

Bring back the design of Torin 4 and 4.5

Anyone who has owned previous Torin models can feel the difference and the changes Altra have made. They came back as soon as they tried them on. I tried on a pair of Altra shoes and they seemed fine.

Pros
  • Ideal for men with wide feet.
Cons
  • May not provide adequate support for pronation problems

Good shoes.: my rating

You should replace the old version. I love the space in the toe box. I haven't walked with them yet. As soon as I've recovered. Upset!

Pros
  • Versatile black with an elegant touch
Cons
  • Too loud when running

Almost perfect - my new review

The materials that make up the tongue are rigid. When I wear short socks, they rub off the area they touch. If the socks are longer, then that's ok. Otherwise I like the shoes. Good for long runs.

Pros
  • Lightweight design for comfortable walking and running
Cons
  • Poor quality control in production

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Terrible language is the best in my rating

These are comfortable shoes. Cushioning and camber are as advertised. But believe the reviews about the tongue! It's practically a razor blade. Completely destroys good shoes.

Pros
  •  This is good for people with wide feet.
Cons
  • Shoe language is as bad as user comments

Disappointing quality

I wanted these shoes to please. I was excited to try the wider toe box and other features in hopes of alleviating some of the issues with other shoes pinching my toes. Unfortunately, after wearing the shoes daily for about two weeks (purchased 1/5/23) and running a three mile run on a treadmill, the tread and inseam coating started peeling off the shoe about a week ago. Went back to another brand.

Pros
  • High quality material for durability
Cons
  • May be too soft and cause leg fatigue

- See picture, Olympus 4 is 12cm wide and Torin 5 is 10cm wide - Both shoes are men's US 9. - Both shoes are the same length. For reference, I have a 10.5 inch foot, have a bunion and wear a splinter on my big toe. The Olympus 4 fits comfortably, but the Torin 5 is too narrow. The sole of the Olympus 4 is wider and my feet are completely in the sole, while the Torin 5 has a thinner sole and my pinky toe doesn't rest on the sole. Also, my little finger is pressed against the ring finger…

Pros
  • Enough room for toe movement
Cons
  • Not easily adjustable for a comfortable fit

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The language spoils it best in my review

Wide toe, comfortable insole, but the tongue is too high, with sharp edges, stiff and digs into the shin. Doesn't decay over time.

Pros
  • Ideal for people with high arches
Cons
  • May cause blisters and calluses

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does it according to my rating.

Brothers, I weigh 240 pounds and have lost 10 pounds since I started wearing these shoes. shoes are good. Very soggy. Good for heavyweights. Works great on the road and treadmill. Zero drop, sock in the shape of the foot! Yes indeed !

Pros
  • tongue hard
Cons
  • May not be suitable for all foot types
