Never managed to stop dripping after changing filters

I was able to use the original Aquasana unit until it came time to change those filters. I've read about leaks from this unit but I'm a pretty handy guy and while I'm not a plumber I certainly understand the basics and am more than capable of installing a water filter. And they have. However when it came time to change the filters I removed the filter housing, installed these new filters and put the filter housing back into the manifold (main unit) and then literally spent a week trying to get…

The thing is finicky and leaking - but we know the secret handshake.

After over 6 months of impeccable service we recently replaced the filter cartridges in our 5300+R. The housings were leaking CRAZY. After waiting 45 minutes for Aquasana's customer service number (during business hours) we were still unable to reach a representative and the call got disconnected. >: (Here's what we did to get it to stop leaking: 1.) Remove the o-rings from the tops and gently wash them in soapy water with a lint free cloth and then rinse in fresh water, dry - do not scratch

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Major flaws but I'm still trying to get them working for us.

Same problems as everyone else: slight leaks every time from every cartridge and low/no flow because the built in check valves in the cartridge bodies are not properly rated for the cartridge. But the apparent water quality and flow rate is better than anything we've tried, so I'm willing to play around with it for an hour every time I change the filters until the leaks stop and water flows. Adding something between the body and the bottom of the cartridge (I used a 3/4" piece of PET tubing cut

Pros
  • Replacement made easy - simply unscrew the filter housing, replace the filter and screw it back on. No Plumber Required
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Multiple filters not working and leaking

Media could not be loaded. These filters and this system are terrible. I had a few issues with the system itself, but that's another story. The system leaked out of the box and had manufacturing defects. Numerous support calls that were rude and unhelpful. This is my third set of replacement filters that ALL have had problems with. Each set leaked water under my sink. It was installed by a professional plumber at a cost of $150. When I changed the filter I had no water, but the old filter…

Pros
  • Instant access to healthy water - keeps you and your family hydrated throughout the day. With a 44% increased flow rate, your AQ-5300+ now consumes 0.72 GPM.
Cons
  • Available in white only.

Six months ago I installed an AQ-5300+.55 filter system and today I replaced the filters with these 5300+R cartridges. No leaks. I'm a handyman, not a plumber. But today I had a plumber at my house on another matter and I asked him about these filters. He installed many of them. He pointed out that there are a lot of little rubber grommets on the connectors and if the grommet slips or you don't make the connection properly, you're bound to get a leak. When removing and installing drip pans…

Pros
  • Catches asbestos and chlorine resistant cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
Cons
  • High Price
