Works great on meat

I use this a lot, especially for grandma's secret fondant. Holds very well on the pot. Easy to read numbers. Temperatures are accurate.

Pros
  • Reads both Fahrenheit and Celsius
Cons
  • Nothing here

The best thermometer for meat!

I was looking for this type of meat thermometer to stock if I manage to break the one I have (it's exactly the same). I've tried other types and they just don't work well. This simple "old fashioned" meat thermometer does exactly what I need - it just measures the temperature of the food. Nothing special

Pros
  • Strong and durable construction
Cons
  • Interchangeable

When cooking a roast I like to see temperatures around 110.

I wasn't careful enough when I bought it. Required for rib roast and the temp reading only starts at 145 degrees, VERY high! When I'm preparing a roast, I like to see the temperature start at around 110 degrees, so I can see when it comes out of the oven. I checked the accuracy with another thermometer I have and it seemed fine. I think I can make a turkey with this.

Pros
  • Instructions are on the label
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Not exactly! Not easy to read!

I bought it to make caramel. The first problem that turned out was that the fortifications on the bank were very weak. Then I realized it was hard to read. After bringing the mixture to a temperature just above the desired temperature (which was quicker than the recipe called for) and then chilling the mixture, I found that the temperature on the thermometer had dropped sharply, causing my caramels to turn into caramel sauce instead . There are also no markings on the thermometer for candyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Home and kitchen
Cons
  • Some bugs
