Great upgrade for Dell G3 3779

I upgraded my Dell G3 3779 laptop by replacing the original C: drive, SK Hynix 128GB SSD, with this Crucial P5 1TB. Higher performance and much larger capacity. I used a USB 3.1 NVMe PCIe enclosure (Amazon #B07MNFH1PX) to clone an SSD on a P5. I used the cloning feature from a free copy of Macrium Reflect and not Crucial's version of Acronis True Image because Acronis requires a new SSD to be installed before cloning and Macrium allowed me to clone before opening the laptop. Macrium also made…

Excellent electronics

Works as expected. The writing speed is as advertised. Trades with the 970 evo but falls behind on less read/write access. Peek's write speed surpasses the 970 evo. See Crystal Disk Mark for details. Fresh window installation

  • Nice

Absolutely amazing speed!

Although I've only worked on computers with SSDs for a while, they've always been standard SATA SSDs, which have been limited to a transfer speed of around 550MB/s, which is comparatively poor even when compared to the fastest hard drives with SATA interface is already very fast. However, after researching and watching many video reviews, I decided to give the Crucial P5 a try and I'm very glad I did! As you can see in the two screenshots uploaded, my SATA SSD (Crucial MX500 1TB) reads at…

Be sure to bring your own screw!

It would be nice if you could provide your customers with an M.2 screw to hold them in place instead of forcing them to look for it. I know you provided them in previous SSDs. I reckon it will probably cost you a whole penny. Instead, after spending hundreds on this product and buying 2 days shipping, I had to wait until the next day to drive an hour back and forth to the hardware store to buy 2 for 47 cents. Thanks very much!

I really liked this SSD

I bought this SSD to upgrade the standard 500GB SSD on my Lenovo Yoga laptop. I bought a laptop less than a month ago and found the standard SSD to be too slow. I checked the Crucial website to see if this SSD is compatible with my laptop. He said it was. So I bought an SSD. I installed it the same day it arrived. The SSD seemed to work fine until I cloned my old SSD. Once the cloning software was ready, I rebooted my laptop and it said the drive was missing. I called tech support and they told

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

I bought this product for my Lenovo E580 and it was relatively easy to install but Crucial has released a software called Executive Storage. During the installation process, they pretty much imply that you need to download this software in order for your SSD to run and run at full capacity. This software destroys your SSD and erases data from both your NVME SSD and the current drive. I called tech support and was on the line for over 2 hours and they said they were aware of a defect in the…

Wrong description, terrible support

I bought an SSD because of the advertised specs and performance. After installing a new i5 desktop system, I ran several hard drive testing utilities and found that the claimed performance was grossly exaggerated. This is approximately 50-70% of the declared number. I'm not a gamer and don't need heavy I/O so I'll keep going. Next I need and I use encryption. The drive claims to have hardware encryption. I'm an IT professional using Managed FDE in the real world. This disk was for the home, but

The Crucial P5 M.2 SSD is incredibly fast.

I installed a Crucial PD M.2 SSD on 2 computers. I used to boot from fast SSDs, but the speed after switching to them is amazing. They are very easy to install and go to the Crucial website - you can get free source disk cloning software. They also have M.2 control software that makes them faster and more efficient. Some websites say to set M.2 as external to clone the original - I didn't. I installed an M.2 drive in its slot, started the machines regularly, downloaded and ran the software. It…
