I'm glad I did, and thankful too, Crucial

In my spare time I've been working on updating an old standard desktop computer. Specifically, the Dell Inspiron 531 that was released in the mid-2000s (2005-2008). As part of the updates I'm trying to move it from a 32-bit to a 64-bit OS. Of course I had to upgrade the RAM for this, but after reading some of the old discussion forums I heard a rumor that if you update the BIOS for the standard Asus M2N61-AX motherboard, it can recognize 8GB of RAM. But I didn't want to believe the rumours, so…

  • Lots of positive vibes

Crucial Tech 240 Pin 2GB Memory Upgrade

Bought for a new processor running Windows 7 64-bit OS The processor only had 3GB of memory and I wanted to take full advantage of the 64-bit System features that require a minimum memory configuration of 4GB (2GB + 2GB). As usual with Revain, ordering and delivery went smoothly and the memory arrived with no problems. I installed it and started my processor. No problem. The BIOS and Windows 7 recognized the new memory and I didn't have to do anything else. So far I haven't noticed a huge…

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

My computer already had a 2GB memory stick and an empty slot, so I ordered it. When my geek friend came along, he installed it in minutes and now I have twice the memory in my mom's old Compaq. Now the computer doesn't slow down when I have 27 tabs open in CHROME browser. If you have an empty memory slot, you MUST get the same (or equivalent) memory that is in a different slot. Adding memory to your computer is the cheapest way to improve its performance. BUT don't order this flash drive just…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • No performance

Good memory at a good price

Works great and arrived quickly. Nothing more to say. I had a friend who was moving and wanted to get rid of some stuff. One of them was an old 64-bit Dell computer that they gave away. It was pretty slow as it was set to the minimum amount of memory so Windoze was really crawling. So I ordered 8GB of that memory and now that old slow machine can still be used as an extra Windoze box. I use Windoze as little as possible since I spend most of my time on Linux, but from time to time I need…

Get it before they go

I had a PC with 2GB of DDR2 memory. I read that this motherboard can handle up to 4GB. It's been hard to find these lately, so I ordered them right away. Installs easily in seconds and works great. Even if you've never upgraded your computer's memory yourself, you can do it in about a minute and have no trouble. Simply power cycle your computer, unplug it from the back of your computer (power cord only), and open the case. There is only one way to install memory and it doesn't work any other…

So far so good with the internals

Well I was trying to figure out how far I could take my PC as a gaming machine and I've already upgraded the RAM once with a single slot of the same chip. My computer ran Oblivion just fine (above medium settings) so I was wondering what other game was within range of my PC and Mass Effect, a game I enjoyed even though I'd only played a few hours on Friends 360, Not only was it playable, but - with a similar memory upgrade - it could run on high settings. So I bought a second card and couldn't…

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Bad experience
