Best value for money among power tools and hand tools

This is amazing! I have both sets of two covering 4 grains. I use them with water, not oil. Unlike stone, they don't end with uneven shells toward the center. You don't have to worry about moving the blade to keep the surface flat. I usually use sandpaper taped to a hard, flat surface for sharpening. And I have loved this method for many years. But the paper wears out, sometimes the edges are so sharp that you cut the paper. I think I'll continue to use this method for some things, but they get

As rough as it needs to be.

This item complements my set of 10" Duosharp whetstones. Extra coarse stone is a huge step forward from the next finer grade and I doubt anyone really needs a workbench stone coarser than this For illustration, let me tell you that during use the stone makes a noise like in "Wow, that very rough stone sounds like I'm scratching concrete with a butcher knife!" I bought it to sharpen tools, but as i had a new very dull very large butcher knife i gave it a very rough initial edge it works quickly…

Many years of experience in sharpening

Although I'm not a sharpener, I know a little about grinding and honing the edges of tools, mainly planers. In the past the rough grinding was done on a grinding wheel attached to my bench grinder/buffer which didn't do the job very well but ok. After that I smoothed the uneven edge with sandpaper and a water stone.
