False advertising about safety and survival

Total rubbish. It's nowhere near as durable as advertised and as thin as a piece of paper. It's just a garbage bag with a reflective surface. Do not buy this as it is a waste of money.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some flaws

Overpriced Rescue Blanket Junk Item

When I first used it, it had a big hole in it. I was alone in the tent and there was nothing in the tent to make a hole. It is NOT durable as they claim. Overpriced junk that I sent back. Just buy a regular rescue blanket or two for a lot less.

Pros
  • Grand Prize
Cons
  • Piggy Bank Prize

Great Mylar sleeping bag!

Bought to warm up and get some rest on that NYC marathon morning while waiting 4 hours in the morning chill. Even if it rains it would be great. The lower layer of soil is not required. I also brought mylar blankets and ended up giving them away.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall
Cons
  • weak

Not so good. on Safety & Survival

Thin material, not strong at all. Very noisy, like regular Mylar. Used one night with another sleeping bag in it. Survived the night but still got wet when the blanket I made punctured him in his sleep. It is no better than any other cheaper product. The packaging was good, so at least I got a nice box.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

So far so good: Safety & Survival

I bought a sleeping bag as a gift for someone who is really into survival training. Love the title ("Don't Die in the Woods"), the packaging, the fast shipping, and the extra usage tips that are emailed. The product feels more durable than most Mylar materials and the fact that there is a "hood" to protect the head was the deciding factor in my purchase.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Hard to say

sealed mylar bag, open only when needed

These are 2 pieces made to look like a standard emergency mylar blanket taped together on each side. No reinforcement and more durable material. Most likely a disposable item. After unpacking it, I can't put it back in the bag it came in. On the plus side, unlike the typical Mylar blanket, this is a large, airtight bag that will most likely keep moisture and wind out.

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • very expensive

Can be improved, more than expected

This is supposed to be for emergencies so I haven't used it yet. I bought it to take with me on ultra runs/minimalist backpacking trips. I envisioned it alongside an all-purpose bag that was half the price. It's much smaller but only 9 grams lighter. The Don't die in the Woods outer bag weighed 5 grams, the rope was regular rope. The standard bag weighed 7 grams and used a 550 cable. Universal (only 20 minutes but better than nothing). There is room for improvement. For an ultra-lightweight…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine gun

Used as "disposable" rescue blankets. (I always kept 10 in the trunk of my cruiser.) Now after nearly 8 years of departmental use, stitching and durability have improved. But they are still listed as disposable. Once you take them out of your pocket, you will NEVER put them back in your pocket. = just keep this fact in mind. I am non-retired and live 1300 miles north of Florida. It's a bit cold here in winter, but after over 30 years in the south. I still miss the seasons. The deer I hunt and…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
