Here's what I did to get yards of linen. I soaked the rag in hot water for 8 hours along with 4 cups of bleach. I stirred the water for a few minutes about every hour and then finished the cycle. After the bleach cycle was complete, I washed the fabric again, this time with soap, and then tumble dried. The fabric is all cotton, which is why this technique worked so well. I put mine in the dryer which caused them to shrink a bit, but I ordered them in a size large enough that some shrinkage wouldn't matter.
