    Slimmer than the flip-top version

It has a lower profile than the flip-top version but is still designed to carry heavy loads. I bought the flooring only after I installed the new floor. Don't forget to buy socket pads if this is your use case.

    Pros
    • Slim design
    Cons
    • Not for everyone

Expensive, only works on thick bases

The quality of the material was good, but with the lid resting on the bottom of the container, it is not suitable for thin bases or flush mounting. Your bottom needs to be about 7/16-1/2 inches thick or it will stick out. Had to replace her panel with another metal cover from a local hardware store to keep it flush with our carpet. We have 1/4" thick 2x2 carpet tiles and these were attached directly to the subfloor under the carpet with their box.

    Pros
    • Nice packaging
    Cons
    • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Couldn't get multiple plug-ins to stay connected

The steel body was well built and strong. The two outlets were well designed and it was easy to plug power lines into them. However, once the top steel plate was fitted, this resulted in the socket slots preventing a safe, secure fit of the plugs due to the distance from the cover to the socket and thus not staying inserted. Of the four slots, only one (1) plug, the old style plug, worked.

This is for the new "floor " outlets in our living room.

Purchased to be installed by a professional electrician. He had some difficulties when we discovered that our new "old" house had two wooden floors. He had problems, but then it turned out that he hadn't read the instructions. When he did, everything went smoothly. So I advise you to read the instructions. It is installed under the sofa but has been professionally installed and looks like it has always been there. Good quality and aesthetically pleasing. Looks great on our cherry oak parquet…

    • Low repairability

Could have used a better design

I am disappointed with the fit of the mating parts in this box and the need to use foam pads to take up the play between the vents and the lid. The lid looks nice, but if I had known beforehand that the perfectly round lids would mean the sockets wouldn't fit my face snugly, I wouldn't have bought this one. Also one of the 4 brass screws I received was broken, no screw head. . I didn't realize it until I had the box installed and Revain's only option is to return everything. Something I don't…

Solid floor box, looks good, does the job

I needed a floor box with 4 sockets and it met my needs perfectly. It's durable and easy to install (that's what the electrician who did the job thought!) and comes with screw caps for unused outlets. The top plate and lids are brass and look great against the mottled brown carpet in the room. Although I have a box under my computer desk I think it would be strong enough to withstand occasional movement if there was an extra spacer underneath. Overall this is a solid, functional and beautiful…

    Good but requires installation

Pedestal OK but requires installation. First you will need a router to cut a 3/8 inch hole in the wood floor for the box flange. The smaller the lid protrudes, the deeper the sockets will be recessed further down. Second, the box has burrs that require extra small cuts to get them into the hole in the base. Third, the box's screw holes may not line up with the lid and if If you use force, you'll break the screws. Finally, there are no leveling rods on the cover to help hold the outlet in place.

    • Ideal for a small home
    Cons
    • Functionality

Poor design in electrical boxes, wiring and fittings

As stated in another review. The round perforated plate provided does not conform to the shape of the outlets, leaving a gap between the base and the box (installed directly on a raw base sub-base). I think it will work if you have REALLY thick floors, I have a vinyl plank, or if you install it before laying the floor and install it under the floor, and perhaps the gap in the panels and outlet shown can match the depth the floor? Paid for a professional install and uninstalling and reinstalling

Poor Design of Electrical Boxes, Wiring and Fittings

The problem with this unit is the design - I installed it but it was hell. I also installed another brand which was a breeze. This device requires a square hole in the ground and then a shallow cut about 3/8 inch deep on both ends. It is suggested to use a router but I don't have one. I ended up with a chisel. Inserting 2 sockets with #12 wires attached to the outlet wings and brass cap all use the same screw hole so aligning all the parts is hell. The other brand was much better thought out…

    Poor design - electrical

As stated in another review, does not fit the mold of the outlets, creating a gap between the floor and the box (mounting directly to the sub floor in an unfinished basement) I think it will work if you have REALLY thick floors, I have a vinyl top, or if it will be installed before the Floor is laid and installed under the floor, and maybe the gap in the panels and the socket shown could match the depth of the floor? Paid for a professional installation and it would be more difficult to remove…

    Cons
    • Questionable purchase for the elderly

The product does what it promises BUT it's a big BUT, prepare to spend many hours of frustration installing this damn thing with your own hands because A) the instructions are worse than Chinese written manuals B) the product is poorly designed and could have been much simpler. Ultimately, it's a metal box that has to go through your floor. However, it has damn notches and protruding propellers that interfere with a smooth descent. The provided template doesn't work, discard it. Then there are…
