Malfunction 3 beeps at level

Bought in January now after 2 months it beeps at level 3 this is a malfunction. I've tried turning it off to see if it resets (several times) but it eventually reverts to a 3 beep error. Return for replacement. I don't know how many stars it deserves but so far 1 star due to a defect.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Some little things

It could be better. - Safety

What I like: Doesn't need to be plugged in, runs on a battery said to last 10 years. Just take a look. I can put it on a shelf instead of mounting it on the wall. If there is a dangerous CO value, it will be displayed. I hope. What I don't like: The CO value is only displayed if it is above a mysterious value. If the level is low or zero, it will not be displayed. If you try to display the CO level and it is low, the device switches to test mode. Very annoying! I don't need a room temperature…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Reliability

Built in rechargeable battery, lightweight, easy to read

This is a review of the First Alert carbon monoxide alarm. Easy to read, shows the room temperature and is easy to use. It can be wall mounted or placed on a flat surface. It has a built-in non-replaceable battery for 10 years. You activate the battery by removing a thin strip of plastic from the body of the metal detector. Pros and Cons: When a long-life battery finally fails, it cannot be replaced. If it lasts the full 10 years as advertised, the device should of course be replaced anyway…

Pros
  • Handy item

  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Shipping error

My previous one died about a week before so I ordered this one which looks like a good one - good brand, good display. After reading the instructions, I set it up, which only took a few minutes. It started beeping, which I thought was normal when it first started. He said to evacuate and alarmed and talked about the evacuation for 3-4 minutes. Powered off, read manual, restarted. He did the same, so worried I left the house, went to the porch, called 911, and took the detector with me. He…

Manufactured April 2018

April. 2018. It's now August 2018, so that's good! This is a very versatile device that can be installed or simply placed on a shelf. When you get a new HVAC system in California, a city inspector should come to your home. This inspector will require homes to have a smoke detector in every bedroom as well as carbon monoxide detectors on every floor. This First Alert block should satisfy the inspector and also gives me the ability to control the temperature in the room I spend most of my time…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Nice standalone unit

Nice little detector. I have it on the shelf. Since I didn't have a CO leak thank goodness I can't say much about how good it is as a detector. However, this is a disposable device. Once the battery dies, the detector is dead too. That's good! With my old detectors, the 9 volt supply that powers them during a power outage needs to be replaced every year or two. This old fashioned First Alerts process is annoying as the battery door is awful and beeps when disconnected. Dangerous for hearing! I…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Clarity

I have two of these to replace the detectors in my house and I hung them on the wall (optional). I got them because I'm a radio amateur and my old detector below (Kidde Nighthawk) kept tripping when I was transmitting on 40m. After some research on the internet I found out that this model is not affected. Turns out I still had to replace my old detector as it was made in 2000 and only lasts 10 years! (I also read that Kidde didn't improve its design until 2004 to prevent false alarms.) It runs…
