April. 2018. It's now August 2018, so that's good! This is a very versatile device that can be installed or simply placed on a shelf. When you get a new HVAC system in California, a city inspector should come to your home. This inspector will require homes to have a smoke detector in every bedroom as well as carbon monoxide detectors on every floor. This First Alert block should satisfy the inspector and also gives me the ability to control the temperature in the room I spend most of my time in. Please note that reviews of this product may refer to an older device with replaceable batteries. The First Alert CO710 10 Year Battery Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Temperature Display does NOT have a battery door and the batteries are not user replaceable.
