Mixed package but works fine once set up

The basic connection instructions are very clear but the details are only available if you download the PDF. The only way to set up this device is through your smartphone. You install an application that sees the device as a WiFi SSID; You connect to it like an internet router. The menu is a little confusing but is explained in the PDF which lists all the options. After the installation you can go back to your normal WiFi Simitter. However, the app is a bit buggy and sometimes freezes or…

Wait until Fluval fixes its bugs before buying.

Fluval has to go back to the drawing board here. I've had too many problems connecting to this device and in the middle of the lighting program my light goes out for no apparent reason. I use Fluval Freshwater 2.0 lamps that ignite with this product. It was so buggy I reverted to the electric timer as I can't get the Wi-Fi controller to keep the schedule. I would also like to say that calling this device a "Wi-Fi controller" is wrong. It doesn't actually connect to Wi-Fi. It's almost like a…

Harder than it has to be.

Overall I'm moderately satisfied. It powers my first and only LED aquarium light. He works and controls the light. It took me a while to even figure out the directions. I'm pretty tech savvy so I was disappointed I didn't figure it out sooner. (If you have a power outage or your power strip is plugged in, you'll need to sign in and have it sync again). I feel sorry for people who just want plug and play but are unhappy. It takes some patience and fiddling to make it work smoothly. Application…

Fantastic idea, poor execution.

Swing and Miss, Fluval. The device acts as its own wireless hotspot. So if you want to buy one and connect it to a network to control your lights remotely, unfortunately that won't work. The device has great difficulty maintaining a connection directly above it, and even more so across the room, even removing interference from anything else in the room. (Yes, I literally unplugged every other electrical device in the room to see if that would improve performance. It didn't.) It also tends to…

But I'm glad I bought it.

Here is my review after 10 months of use I'm really not thrilled with the overall quality of this item Fluval seems to have missed the ball and just thrown it together after deliberation which disappoints them. The controller itself: The term 'WiFi' is a bit misleading as it doesn't connect to your home WiFi. It has its own Wi-Fi network that you connect your device to. (You should have used Bluetooth) The range of this "WiFi" is not very far. If you are more than 5 feet away from the device…

Please turn on the user manual and real moonlight settings!

Don't get me wrong, this is a light control that can only be programmed over Wi-Fi. It might not be obvious at first glance, but connecting to Wi-Fi is the only way to program this thing. The reasons I gave this product 2 stars are as follows: - There is absolutely no instruction manual how to access the device and how to program it, in fact it's a big mistake. To learn how to use it, you need to watch a video on YouTube, which doesn't explain anything about setting up Moonlight anyway! - The…

Avoid, seriously. RUN.

Nonsense, plain and simple. The module during "WiFi" cannot support the WiFi signal to any of the phones in my house. In theory, this element sounds good, but not so much in practice. It's not a WiFi-enabled box, it's its own router that broadcasts its own network SSID. This transmission is of such poor quality that even standing next to the device never shows more than 4 out of 5 bars will start from the beginning (login again), and in many cases you will have to completely disconnect from the
