Perfect device, requires programming from dealer or via downloadable tools

Only reason for 1 star is that there is no easy way to program it to the car, some of these devices are supplied a key that automatically programs the computer for you. In this case I had to download the app and buy a Bluetooth ODB-II programmer and Forscan software or the dealer would charge me $95 for the work. Luckily, online resources are free and easy, so after the initial cost of the controller plus $60 for the ODB scanner, the device was up and running. Package was clean, arrived on…

Save your frustration, buy once. Avoid Chyna parts

Yes, it's three times more than you can find, but there's a reason! Seriously, only buy it once. I wasn't very smart, thinking I was going to save money and ordered a Chinese special. It annoyed me so much. It turned off my trailer every time I touched the boost buttons. They sent a replacement. This only worked when using your fingers on the slider. Needless to say, I disassembled my dashboard three times to get a good controller. Get FORD parts. do it once On the plus side, I can disassemble…

Not Working: Trailer Accessory

After receiving this original Ford brake controller, I installed it on my truck and flashed it with ForScan only to find that my trailer brakes were working intermittently. After a lot of troubleshooting I found that the brake controller was getting 12.35 volts but only came out 7 volts. I maxed out all the settings on both the car dash and the controller and I only managed to get a maximum of 8 volts on the hitch. The coupler plug must be 12 volts for the brakes to work properly. It was…

Works great on my 2016 F-150.

Fits my 2016 F-150. I watched the installation videos and was a little worried about tearing up my new truck's dashboard, but everything was exactly as they described. After installing it, I took my truck to the dealer for an oil change and had it flash the computer. They wanted $70 to flash the computer but I got them to lower the price to $30 and everything works great! I really like that it is built into the dash and looks like it was factory installed. The blue light on the controller also…

Works on 2018 Ford F150 XLT V8 without towing kit

Physical installation is surprisingly easy. The wiring harness that connects directly to it was already in my truck. This unit even came with a factory fuse, which is custom sized and a bit harder to find. 2 very important things to know: - If you don't already have a working brake controller, you should check your f150 to make sure it's wired for the fuse, in fuse slot #24. Your truck isn't pre-wired for that, what makes installation considerably more difficult. I've heard of trucks with a tow

Worked on a 2016 f150

If you are reading this you don't want to pay the dealer an exorbitant amount to install it. The good news is that it's not difficult. There are many videos on YouTube showing how to take the dash apart and wire up this bad boy. The hardest part is putting the dashboard together and getting everything aligned. The second part is programming. Dealers in my area have charged $130 or more to program this device. I did a little research and found a $30 part (listed below) on Amazon that attaches to
