Edited September 30, 2020: RMA process took 5 weeks! The Gigabyte repair shop is only 20 miles from my house. Edited on August 26, 2020: Downgraded to 1 star. Two days ago, this board died completely in what NASA would call a "catastrophic failure." Died completely after only 8 months. But with the 3 year guarantee I thought it was great, I should be ready to go in a few days. I need this workstation to run as fast as possible so I just got off the phone with gigabyte support. WILL NOT FAST. Iโ€ฆ

AMAZED? Forget it. on Computer Components

Supposedly a flagship product for Gigabyte. And maybe the way it is; except if you want to use NVMe RAID (Raid 1 to be exact). To be honest, I'm not sure if AMD (for the BIOS) or Gigabyte (for using that BIOS) is to blame; But whoever it is, I've spent most of the week getting it to work and then stable. Then I gave up. However, it now works fine - no RAID.

Charm for the third time

The first time I tried it I was surprised that there is no CPU socket cover (rather than a clear plastic guide). The only reason I was expecting a cap is because "step 7" on page 15 of the manual shows a picture of a gray cap. I requested a replacement that also didn't have a CPU socket cover. After a few tries I was able to speak to Gigabyte tech support who informed me that none of their motherboards came with an empty CPU socket and that the manual was not updated. After installing all theโ€ฆ

Unstable under heavy CPU load, NO workstation board

This board looks great on paper, but if you plan to use it on a workstation you may run into serious stability issues. I tried using it with a Threadripper 3990x AMD processor and 256GB of Crucial ECC unbuffered RAM. Both parts correspond to the specifications of the board. The board was running the latest available BIOS (version F4l) with "optimized defaults" recommended by the BIOS itself. The operating system was Linux, openSuSE Leap 15.2. It was stable for everyday tasks like browsing, text

Absolute bullshit

These boards are absolutely the worst. You would think that by giving premium pricing you would at least get a product that works, but I've had absolutely horrible experiences with it. The PCIe bus on them appears to be held together with wire and tape. NVME drives in motherboard slots just randomly fall out (and then it takes a full BIOS reset to come back, if at all). This forces you to use the included riser card to run them (which works and I know they're not SSDs) and there's one of yourโ€ฆ

Stay away, not worth the disappointment.

I personally had 2 of these boards and each had stability issues and occasional display issues when GPUs were used in 16x slots. I have a 1000w power supply and it's not a cheap rose either. No problems with the same GPUs in a different setup. Works fine on this board. I sent the first board back to Amazon because of recurring stability problems, I kept getting watchdog errors and couldn't install some drivers. The next board was a bit more stable and I was able to install the drivers, but Iโ€ฆ

Unbelievable disappointment

I had SEVEN of these boards and was trying to get them to work. On different processors, different sets of RAM, different SSDs, different GPUs - they all experienced fundamental failures for new and inexplicable reasons. Sometimes SSDs are no longer recognized. Sometimes RAM disappears. Sometimes the GPU stops displaying an image. And so on. Even if you operate the board, this does not guarantee that it will continue to work; On several occasions I had the system running for a couple of weeksโ€ฆ
