Super Value Welding Helmets

Perfect helmet, you can spend more but you can't get more. Great features worth your eye protection cost a few bucks more than cheap ones. The viewing area is amazing

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other models

good price in head protection

still works great after a year. like automatic on and off. Batteries are an uncommon type, but they can be bought in China for a few dollars. Order a spares kit as it takes several weeks from China. Otherwise they cost $10 on site.

Pros
  • very good price
Cons
  • unreliable

I order two of these - dead on arrival

I tested the product facing the sun. It does not work. It flickers when you look at the sun. I've experimented with sensitivity, hue, timing - nothing works. I called Hobart Technical Support. They have great support but they couldn't fix the problem. Unfortunately I had to return the item.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Reliability

Worth every penny! suitable for personal protective equipment

There are several other auto-darkening helmets that do not work as well as this one. I have invested money to get a good one to teach my son to weld and the difference between this and what I have is amazing. This is without a doubt the best investment. If you need a helmet and want to SEE your work while staying safe, then this helmet is for you. I will buy a second one just for me.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Great as long as good for head protection

I have been welding for 35 years and finally decided to buy a self darkening helmet. Now that I have this Hobart welding helmet I cannot understand why I have waited so long. This thing works great, like I've jumped into modernity. I do arc welding and arc welding and being able to see your work before trying to strike the arc makes life so much better. I will try to update this review in a few years to see how this product has performed over time.

Pros
  • Good job
Cons
  • Repair

Terrific. for head protection

This helmet is worth every penny. I've tried a few similarly priced ones and returned them due to fragility, bad hinges, cheap straps, and even slow shading. I have used some very high quality shields and have been told that Hobart's helmets are as good as their welders. You weren't wrong. I can carry and use this shield for hours. As an artist, I will be making dozens of small welds, not large ones, so weight and ease of use are key, as is offline clarity. This model is ideal for long-term use

Pros
  • certified
Cons
  • safety

Too dark, does not stay upside down

Mixed opinion. Relatively light weight, good price. But after fumbling and fumbling, I just can't get it to stay on my head. I scrolled it until my head felt like it was in a vise and still falls if I pick it up and move my head at all. I changed all the settings, no fun. But the big problem is that when you're welding flux cores at 80 amps with a Hobart welder, even on the brightest setting, it's too dark. I don't see any work at all, even the bow is pretty weak. I'm not sure if it's broken or

Not bad, best in safety category

Helmet is a good auto-dimming helmet made by a good company. What got me pulling the trigger is that it (especially the outer case) is made a little better than Yeswelder or any other major brand sold on Amazon. I have read in these reviews that this helmet seems to be more durable than other helmets and to be honest its just like any other. I paid 100 for this one when I could have paid 60-75 or so. Still, I don't regret my decision because it has 4 sensors and I haven't flashed my eyes yet…

Pros
  • Polyamide Nylon
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good product for the money.

I bought this welding helmet to replace an old HF helmet that I have been using in my locksmith shop for years. It was really amazing how much better my vision was through the Hobart helmet. I've been using it for a week and love the much lighter weight of this helmet. I spend hours up and down with it on my head and don't feel the strain on my neck that the old helmet gave me. The only issue preventing me from giving 5 stars at the moment is the grind lock switch in the helmet. I have to take…

Pros
  • Large 9.3 sq. ft. wide screen gives better visibility
Cons
  • Expensive

Great auto-darkening helmet for the price!

Love this helmet. I use shade 11 and it works great. It didn't flicker for me as the delay setting is really good. The sensitivity of the light sensor is very good, actually too good to look at a 10W LED bulb to turn it on when looking directly at it. Grinding and looking for sparks turns it on too, but put it in grind mode and it works great. I want grind mode to be available outside of the helmet, not inside the helmet. I usually wear the helmet right on my head for an hour or two when going…

Pros
  • Four independent arc sensors provide reliable arc detection
Cons
  • Big and chunky
