This was a good purchase to replace a broken stem on the center stuffing tube. This tube was never meant to break, but it was due to a very poor and flimsy design. As an extreme DIY enthusiast, be prepared to spend an hour replacing a valve. If I had to rate this Kohler toilet I would give it 2 stars because you have to remove the tank and then you really need a wrench to loosen the big nut on the bottom. I spent at least 45 minutes trying different tools to loosen the nut. I ended up cutting the rubber gasket off the nut so I could barely unscrew the nut with a pipe wrench. My Kohler K4436 toilet internally drained water from the water storage tank for an extended period of inactivity - say a few days. HELL CALL! As others have said, this is a full PITA to get involved. Especially if you don't have a garage full of tools. I could barely loosen the bottom nut with a vice that barely did the job. HARDLY! Definitely recommend making sure you have a plumber's wrench or something. Otherwise it was relatively easy to install new parts.
