Certainly not a bad product. it just doesn't deliver what I was hoping for. You definitely need to use cling film or some other type of film as a barrier to keep the filling from going through the adjustable part of the plate. I made about 5 patties at a time and found that between the adjustable plate and the body (i.e. the space that can be adjusted up or down) was a meatball sized piece of ground beef. Maybe this problem can be solved with some kind of o-ring or maybe a rubber gasket?

I am disappointed that LEM is putting its name on this product. I have a wide range of LEM meat processing equipment that I am very happy with. This item does not qualify. This is the same die-cast aluminum burger press sold by many others, with the LEM logo. Disassembling and cleaning hurts. This hamburger press is very easy to use. However, either the threaded hole in the top is not perpendicular to the centerline of the press outer casing, or the shaft on the movable platen in the top is not perpendicular to the platen itself. Shaping a hamburger is not high math but I found this device to be well made and solid and worked exactly as described. I would suggest using spacer sheets on both the top and bottom to avoid sticking to surfaces - it also makes cleaning easier. This press is reliable and very easy to use. You'll have to experiment with portions for your desired size patties, but after that, it works great. Each patty has the same size and thickness due to the fine adjustment with markings. I use store bought cake paper on top and bottom, even though the product says "non-stick".
