Pays for itself from day one

Makes screwing significantly faster and easier. When set up correctly, it's definitely worth the money. That pays off on the first day. I've installed 1000 screws and no problems so far. It's a little tricky to use in corners, but otherwise it's great.

Not very intuitive.

Be sure to read/watch the instructions, otherwise it is constantly confused. When feeding the screw tape you have to stop where you see fit or it will mow. Takes a proprietary set of tips that I can't find a replacement for anywhere. Bought for $70 which is a decent price now after 1 week it's $97. WORKS WELL after setup. The depth adjustment works better than with a conventional cone.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • There are deficiencies

LEARNING CURVE AND NOTES BUT SAVE HOURS OF TIME.

In short, if you already have a Makita drywall gun, buy it. Rock. There was a lot of traffic jams during the adjustment period and I almost thought I broke it at least twice, but with a little perseverance I'm now very comfortable banging screws. Enormous time savings.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something different

Great Tool While It Works

Makita Auto Feed Screwdriver 199145-0 is a great tool while it works but after a few uses the feed stops. We've been through a few, all have died within the return period and will not buy more than is specifically for his screwdriver and we have a huge project to finish. My husband was able to disassemble and fix the newest one so I give it 3 stars. I hope Makita solves the problem for future users.

  • Absolute Legend

  • Great Price

Poor product for power tools and hand tools

I bought one and it broke after a few minutes of use. I tried to fix it myself but couldn't get it working again so I bought a new one and it broke faster than the first one. My mistake, I bought a new one without returning the old one. Now I'm stuck with 2 broken ones. Luckily I sent a second one back. But I'm still from the first. Hope this one doesn't break. If that happens, I will file a lemon bill against Makita. Thanks Donovanknapick@gmail.com.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use

Updated - earned!

I have upgraded my rating from one to four stars. I refused to believe that Makita would sell junk, so I carefully disassembled the unit. There is a cam that controls the (ratchet) feed of the screws. I came without a seat. I reinstalled it, built it and got the device working. Be careful with the depth setting - if you turn the screw at eye level while standing on the ground, you have to step back from the depth or you'll turn too deep. If you find yourself in an awkward position on the stairs

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
