I've been using this device for steaks, cheese and yoghurt for 2 weeks. I also have a handheld thermometer, after calibrating both (you really only need to calibrate any food thermometer with ice-filled water) they had almost the same accuracy. Both thermometers showed the same degrees up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, after which they differed by 5-10 degrees. I don't know which one is more accurate, but the 185f accuracy is still good.
