Description of Mikrotik RBwAPR 2ND R11E LTE MikroTik WAP

The wAP LTE Kit-US is a small weatherproof wireless access point with a built in cellular modem that supports 3G and 4G (LTE) connectivity. Connect to the wAP’s built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless and access the LTE network from your phone or any other wireless device. The wAP LTE also has one 10/100 Ethernet LAN port for your wired devices. LTE cards are connected to two internal antennas with u.FL connectors, so if you want, you can unplug the connectors and add your own external LTE antenna for larger coverage. RBwAPR-2nD&R11e-LTE-US includes LTE modem that supports LTE bands 2,4,5 and 12, mostly used by mobile operators in United States, Canada and Latin America.

Didn't work with LTE/AT&T, no real tech support

I've been through two of these and none of them worked with AT&T in the US. MikroTik support is essentially non-existent - it's email at best (where they forward you to the people you bought it from) and then they ask you to post on the forum. Nobody replied to anything I wrote.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Some issues

Not suitable for failover

The passthrough mode that can be used in a failover situation with an existing router is half-baked and poorly documented.

Pros
  • Not only useful for intended purpose
Cons
  • Negative present

My mom has a nice house but lives in the middle of nowhere with almost no cell service or ISP. We used it mounted near the top of a lightning-proof 40-foot pole, itself perched on a hilltop -- almost exactly 300 feet of total cable -- to bring stable internet to their home. With the standard R11e LTE US we usually get 5-10Mbps from an AT&T tower on band 2 almost 8 miles away, but some days we get 20Mbps. For about a year now months it is stable. The only problem was that the standard power…

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Doesn't work by design! Mfg has not registered imei with the operators

This device is completely unusable. Router OS is garbage. Not updated when changes are saved. No matter what I do, 4G will not sync with our carriers. If you have a hundred hours to work on this device to get it working properly, just make sure you keep a working backup of your configuration. I would test that as well before assuming it works.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Requires socket

Unlocked, Outdoor Protected, Cellular Modem

Went to T-Mobile and got a prepaid SIM card. Came back home 20 minutes later. I turned on the device and connected my laptop via WiFi. The LTE interface seems to cycle up and down. Added T-Mobile APN and device connected to T-Mobile. Updated software and device and I get 10/2 megabytes. I was looking for this device for the food truck app. WiFi only 2.4. And Ethernet 10/100. But an externally protected cellular modem, router and Wi-Fi access point. The price of this device is 80% savings…

Pros
  • High Quality
Cons
  • Poor Instructions

Works well and the price is excellent

Works great. It looks like the other reviews are from people who don't know how to set up the device. At a minimum, you must be logged in and set an APN for your wireless service provider.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's amazing as long as you know what you're doing.

I buy these a lot and they work great. Do not buy if you are unfamiliar with routerOS or willing to learn and post on the mikrotik forums. They are not for novice users.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
