Started leaking after 40 days. Weak spot welds.

Leaks after 40 days. Weak spot welds. I can't return it through Revain so I'm trying to get Mishimoto's lifetime warranty. Very disappointed

Pros
  • Everything OK!
Cons
  • A small change

It was easy to install

It was easy to install. I had to cut a hose (small 90 degree hose). As long as it cools my engine. I was running 200-208 temp. Now I'm running 180-190. In addition, it makes the engine compartment beautiful.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Band

Fits exactly! for parts

I have a 2005 Forester XT with a STi one piece swap and a closed IAG deck block. This Mishimoto expansion tank is a perfect match for the original tank. The mounting holes are exactly where they should be and all the inputs and outputs are perfectly positioned. After draining the required amount of fluid to install a new tank, it took less than 10 minutes. The welds are great and worth installing this new tank if you have an engine bay to show off.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

2nd fault - Leak in the welds around the mounting brackets

I don't know, vibration or what but I've tried 2 of these and they both failed in the same place - near the back of the tank, where the bracket is welded to the tank. You either need to reinforce it or add some kind of vibration dampening. I would give it more stars as it worked well the year I had it, but Amazon purchases are non-refundable. at least not the last time.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model

Mishimoto Shit: Spare parts

I wish I could give 0 stars but that's not possible, it started leaking after about 4 months so contacted Misha and they replaced it just paying shipping ($15), cool. Contacted Mishi, replaced the tank, $15 more, now I have my third tank and after 7 months it starts leaking like hell and all that time has passed, warranty shipping is now $60! And I have a feeling that with a new tank it's only a matter of time before it leaks, if so check out the Moroso, they've been around a lot longer than…

FAILURE TEAKING TANK

I bought this expansion tank in November 2014 and installed it in January 2015. The car is not suitable for everyday use and I have long realized that I need to top up coolant regularly, especially when I push the car. Today while cleaning the engine compartment, I noticed a leak right at the weld seam on the bracket that is bolted to the intake manifold, it has traces of leaked and dried coolant. I have discovered that this item is covered by a lifetime warranty and would like to know where I…

Coolant rebuild kits not done well

I bought two from Revain the last one in June 2016 the one bought in May 2015 started on my 2003 wrx last night and for fun, i went and checked my 2005 wrx which has the one i just bought this june. It is also just beginning to flow. What happens when a weld is to be fastened, it cracks, the metal is too thin. So I came to Revain this morning to try and bring back what was released in June. And it says clearly that I can no longer return this product? The product page clearly states a lifetime…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Actually I don't like it its ok

Big! But not perfect.

I give 5 stars for the quality but the fit is not perfect. The bracket interferes with the pipe clamp and I broke the pipe trying to move it. It was a bit off but fixing the broken hose added 20 minutes to the job. In addition, none of the normal hoses fit. Due to the fact that he received a larger volume than the regular tank, it is necessary to shorten all the hoses. Not too bad as tubing wears out and cutting it off can provide a better fit. The coolant overflow hose required the most…

Pros
  • Easy fit
Cons
  • Not sure

Expensive and poor fit/quality

I installed this part on a 2005 WRX to replace a leaking Subaru original metal fuel tank. Subaru wanted to replace my tank with a plastic tank that sells for $120, so I went in search of a nicer aftermarket part. Engines are very different. It "matches" the 2005 turbocharged 2.0L, but not very well. I had to cut all four molded hoses connected to this unit. Even after cutting, some of the hoses are close to bending or chafing other lines. I'll post pictures later when I have time. - All four…
