In my photos I compare them to Daniel Smith's "core set" and to be honest the colors are very similar, with Daniel Smith being a little lighter and a little more translucent. I would not recommend buying this with the intention of emptying it to put your own colors in the tubes. This is partly because these colors are actually pretty good and that would be a waste.
