They replaced something similar that was starting to rust. The item he replaced was smaller and rounded at the bottom. I like these better - they're nice and shiny, they're wider, and they have a flat bottom. The flat bottom makes cleaning much easier.

These fancy strainers are way better than cone shaped strainers. They are durable, offer wide drainage and are easy to clean. They completely fill the drain hole so nothing else goes down the drain and nothing is left in the sink when the water is drained.

They fit snugly on the sink and are short enough not to reach the bottom of the sink drain, allowing for a nice flat seat seal in the sink.

This one is 100x better than the one I had. It was the screen. These are ground perforated mesh filters. Very easy to clean. And anything smaller or smaller than a sieve won't hurt.
