Brilliant design in optical drives

Great job - and it works! I love the simplicity of the design, the way the cable fits easily into the bottom cutout, the way the drive bay runs smoothly and feels solid, the way the device looks solid and feels so durable , how it looks. Everything about this device feels right. This is the fourth I've bought and the first I'm happy with.

Works out of the box! Only 8x CD ripping speed on Mac

I love this little device. I can digitize my old CDs on my Mac. When using iTunes, the speed increases to about 8 times. It's not as fast as I was hoping, but it works well with my MacBook Pro (2017) and I can keep it running in the background while I work. Macs don't need drivers. It worked right out of the box! I have not tested the DVD.

We have a winner! on external components

I've bought several different CD and DVD burners and most of them didn't burn CDs from my MacBook Pro 2011 iTunes playlist. This worked great. Plays DVDs very well. Ideal for downloading music on iTunes. I don't see how that would be impossible, but I work in a field where I regularly get data CDs, so I'm hoping this will be able to open them and extract the contents. (Haven't tried this part yet, but will update review if there are issues with it)

This is a great player

The last external DVD/CD player I had was so cheap compared to this one! And since he ultimately refused to pull out or open the drawer to eject my CDs, I took a chance as the product description seemed to fit my needs perfectly. Arrived quickly after ordering in a sturdy box. The player was in a soft duffel bag, so I felt from the start that the maker and seller are professional. Not compatible with High Sierra OS

Bought for use with my MacBook Air. The current software for me is High Sierra and this optical drive doesn't seem to want to work with it. It showed no visible damage upon arrival. Plugged into my USB-C port and the drive is recognized. When I insert a CD or DVD, I even see the name of the inserted disc. Then the viewer comes up and says it's not allowed, and then another window pops up asking me to select my region. Region 1 is what all my discs were written for and is the default setting for

A supplier that offers a two-year guarantee

That's what happens when technology changes. I had a collection of CDs and DVDs that I can no longer use because my computer doesn't have an internal drive and I don't want to invest in a player for my new living room sound system. Thought it would be a good fix until it stopped working after 3 months of ownership with VERY little use. The device would not turn on or open, effectively turning it into a useless building block. I have to admit I've seen other reviews mentioning the same issue…

Works as advertised

This tray loading DVD drive works as advertised. I had no problems reading or writing DVDs. I connected this to my iMac running OS 10.14.1 (Mojave) via a USB-C port. Some positives: 1) connecting the drive via the USB-C port is reportedly faster than using USB 2 or 3 ports, 2) it's completely silent, 3) works right out of the box without power, 4 ) with the included USB-C USB-to-USB adapter works just as well when plugged into a USB-2 port, and 5) it reads and writes DVDs with ease.
