But only works with Windows XP or 2000.

I was really looking forward to this step counter. When I received it I was curious to see how it works. However, I immediately had problems downloading the software. I couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried. So I dug deeper and discovered that the software is ONLY compatible with Windows XP or 2000! It doesn't even work with Windows 7, let alone 8.0 or 8.1. I was very disappointed! The product description for this item should have mentioned software limitations. However, I tried the…

Still works great after 10 years!

My Omron HJ-720ITC has been serving my purposes perfectly for over 10 years! I bought it in March 2010 and have been using it almost every day since. I only use the Omron to see how many steps and miles I've walked and to check the time instead of the watch. Steps and miles are pretty accurate - I drove 2 miles in my car and then ran with a pedometer and it came out within 0.1 miles. Aerobic and calorie counts aren't very useful to me, it's not Omron's fault, but I live on a hill and walking on

The software is bad but the pedometer is good.

I forgot where I got this software - I think it was available from the Omron website. Once you install and use it, there is no way to erase data from it. Must uninstall and reinstall. You can supposedly import data from another pedometer, but I still haven't figured it out. The pedometer is good, seems accurate, tracks steps and "aerobic" steps and duration of aerobic steps throughout the week. Unlike the previous model, which today only tracked but did not store aerobic step duration. Also…

bought it for my wife

Let me start by saying "my wife is not tech savvy. I was hoping that she could use this device to record her walks on the computer. My mistake. This unit works as advertised It's easy to program The computer software is a bit fiddly to find and install but not too big My wife's main disadvantage is her shape and size The clip that comes with it doesn't fit her clothes well slips out of the clip and can be put in a pocket, but many things she carries when walking don't have pockets, it has a…

I can put it in my pocket

I bought this model because I can carry it in my pocket. I had another one that I needed to clip to my belt but the clip broke so I looked for another solution. It comes with a clip-on holster which you should use when running, but for regular everyday use I use the leash (which comes with the package) and keep the pedometer in my pocket. Others say he is too sensitive and rides in the car. will record the steps. I don't know if mine has this problem. I got it to motivate myself to increase the

Almost daily exercise and fitness use

I am writing this review in response to bad reviews as well as my own glowing review. As for customer service issues, I haven't had any. As with other companies, I have opted for a 'last chance' strategy, which may or may not work with Omron. I find the name of the North American CEO or International CEO (or President) and write a letter (yes, Virginia, by mail) outlining my difficulties and problems with their product and promising a great or bad rating. their product on every possible website

Beautiful Computer Registered Pedometer

PROS: Accurate, can be adjusted according to your step. Maintains both "aerobic" and intermittent walking volume. Connection to a computer via a USB 2.0 cable (included). Works in your pocket, backpack, purse, etc. Includes Windows-enabled software. : USB connection sometimes doesn't work Clumsy UI for software Doesn't distinguish between walking on level ground and climbing mountains No option to turn off for other activities like cycling Software doesn't support Mac Linux etc. Poor…

Great Fitness Motivation

I'm sure that with over 1000 reviews on this product not many people will see this review but I just wanted to appreciate my 3.5 years of experience. this device every day. I owned two of these, lost one and missed it so much that I made a few purchases and decided to buy the same model again. Although Money Magazine named it the #1 pedometer, I liked it for the following reasons: 1. Using a pedometer of any kind has been a huge motivator for me to consistently move toward and achieve my…

Great tool for fitness beginners

I am overweight and walking is my only exercise right now. At first I didn't feel the need to count steps, but I thought a pedometer would be a good motivator. The first pedometer I chose was Omron but not this one. I was pretty happy with that; However, he took a bath. Twice - the first time for 5 miles; the second dies completely. I needed a replacement, the little pedometers I've gotten for free over the years aren't that accurate but worked well enough in a pinch. After reading reviews and…
