Fun tool. In hard jams, the torque can strain and begin to break apart. The battery, NiCad, is not very long lasting I think. I can see if I can get a NIMH as a replacement. But for the price, if it only lasts a year or too much, so what?

This is a great product. It does what it's supposed to - remove the plug - and it's quick and easy. The supplied foil cutter works well and the whole thing is neatly stowed away in the charging cradle. The only downsides to this device are: 1) The mount is very light and when the power cord hangs down it pulls the charging cradle with it. UPDATE: 2/17/19. Well, my device has finally stopped working, but I believe it's because the battery has finally reached its maximum number of charges. I opened it up to see if I could change the battery (see picture) but it's a bundle of three AA batteries packaged with the terminals soldered. I received this bottle opener as a gift and laughed at the idea at first. It seemed a bit lame to be honest, but after using it a few times I quickly changed my mind. It's easy to use (actually - people with ailments or injuries may be using too much force. More on that later). Third edit. I lowered my rating to 3 stars as the device died a few years ago. I think I killed it trying to remove bits of cork stuck in it. This device requires either prolonged immersion in the cork to avoid breaking fragile corks, or an easy way to open the device to remove bits of cork. to the review.
