I've tried this stuff about 4-5 times to see if there's a trick to getting it to cut effectively but it just doesn't work well with my coarse hair and it does It doesn't seem to matter how short my hair is. It requires a lot of pressure and repeating the same passages over and over again. I started shaving with Norelco and then switched to the Braun 7 Series. The brown was starting to fail and I needed a new razor. Internet research showed me a razor I had never heard of. The reviews are correct, I have compared this to Braun's best line and the reviews are consistent with my experience. If you only have a day of stubble, Arc5 shaves faster and more closely than Braun. However, Arc5 fights growth longer than stubble and is harsher on your skin than brown, but any pre-shave lotion will fix this.
