Cheap quick repair

This was a good and easy repair for my Porter Cable Pancake Compressor. Removal and replacement takes less than five minutes and the cost of the part is less than $5. The replacement part also appears to be better constructed than the original it replaced (my compressor is at least 6-7 years old and I have never changed a valve).

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Quick fix that saved me $$

My compressor whistled again and I went to air the room. Pop! The drain valve is rusty. At least I was smart enough to take the pressure off. I can only imagine if I was 120psi at the time. This replacement valve was easy and convenient to install and I was back on my projects within 20 minutes. The delivery was quick and safe.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Out of style

Replacing a 7 year old compressor.

Replaced the tank hose and drain valve on my 7-8 year old compressor. Runs like new and fills up very quickly. I found repair videos on youtube. As a side note, you will need a 9mm torx to remove the plastic gauge cover to allow the supercharger motor to be removed. All parts, clamps and a set of torx screwdrivers cost a little less than 35.00.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Interval

Better than the original valve

This valve is made of brass and will not rust. In addition, the valve has been designed better than the original valve. Rather than relying on an O-ring cut through the valve's threads, this valve has a stronger, more efficient seal. It is easy to install and uses standard threads. I used two turns of teflon tape to seal it. I would buy this again.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great design, great price

Purchased to replace an old school faucet on my air compressor tank drain. Super easy installation. Old valve removed and screwed in. Clamped it down with a wrench and it was ready to go. The serrated surface makes this valve easy to open and close with your fingers, and it doesn't need to be closed very tightly to be tight. Highly recommended for the overall price.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Compatibility

Great product suitable for power tool spares

I own all Porter Cable products and am very happy with them and will continue to use and buy! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the customer service doesn't match their product! I had a problem with a spare part (drain valve. I did not receive it. The package was empty). I called Porter Cable and discussed my problem but nothing was done about it! I think they are too busy making and selling great products to care about a disappointed customer! Life isn't fair, but itโ€ฆ

Pros

  • Not bad but...

Easy to install on power tool parts and accessories

This is not exactly the same as the original. He goes a little further. When trying to empty the tank after use, I simply tilted it and it continued to balance on two legs. Now you have to hold it to drain the water. The design itself seems superior to the original in that the O-ring is no longer needed. Or at least I don't see it now. Maybe it's the body? In any case, I'm glad the compressor is in good condition and glad I made the purchase. The fix took 2 minutes with the right socket andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Something different

Just like the original

Relief valves on air compressors have left hand threads. At first I didn't know what that meant, but now I do. This means the thread is receding from most other screws and bolts. The old adage "left-handed, weakling, right-handed, tight-fisted" doesn't apply here. it's back Which brings me to why I needed this little guy. My original drain valve got stuck and I screwed it in the wrong way with pliers and it broke. I took it to Home Depot to see if the mechanic could fix it. He had no idea andโ€ฆ
